Why do i need a well?
More people are turning to their own private supply for agricultural, domestic, or industrial use. Having your own on site water supply means you are unaffected by any changes in pressure or quality from the mains supply. Operating cost savings can be dramatic with most new installations paying for themselves within 12 – 18 months.
Is there any water on our site?
The GeoReports department at the British Geological Survey will supply you with a water borehole prognosis, outlining the likely prospects of water as well as the geology for your area. You will need to give them your site address and national grid reference, you can get this from the Ordanance Survey, Streetmap, Multimap, or a paper map.
How long does it take?
For domestic wells or those with a total
consumption of less than 20m3 a day the application and
construction process is relatively straight forward. Completion can
often be effected in 7-10 days.
For commercial applications the process is longer and may require a
survey of local water features. This process can usually be
completed within 3-4 weeks.
